Prevention Tips

 

1. Do not open any files attached to an email from an unknown or suspicious source.

2. Do not open any files attached to an email unless you know what they are, even if it appears to come from a friend or someone you know.

3. Do not open any files attached to an email if the subject line is questionable or unexpected.

4. Delete chain mails and junk email, do not forward or reply to any of them, these types of emails are considered spam, which are unsolicited and intrusive.

5. Update your anti-virus software regularly. Over 500 new viruses are discovered each month, so it’s essential to be up to date.

6. Ensure adequate backups are regularly taken to protect against data loss.

7. When in doubt, always err on the side of caution and do not open, download or execute any files or email attachments.
